to be desired. They are badly designed, often freakish, badly built and wretchedly finished. They are enamelled in many cases on rust, result, just as soon as car is subjected to moisture, paint work lifts. Varnishing usually streaky and oarelessly done.
TYRES AND WHEELS
No standardization as to sizes of tyres. Tyres to fit English Cars hard to obtain. Clincher Tyres largely used. Straight Sides preferred here. Security Bolts used, cause many punctures. Demountable Rims rarely used.
SPARES
Hard to obtain. Average dealer afraid to stock spares because manufacturers financial position usually doubtful.
PACKING
Not very good, cases too small, and insecurely stayed
and battened.
OPERATION
As a rule the average English Car is much more difficult to drive than the American Car. The driving position is uncom- fortable, the gear change is comparatively difficult and the engine is not flexible. Gear ratios are not suited to Colonial conditions. Self-starters are not dependable.
